Central Park Station is a stop on the Kaohsiung MRT Red Line located at the intersection of Wufu and Zhongshan Roads. Because the station is situated in a core area of Kaohsiung City and attracts a large crowd, the MRT Bureau specifically adopted the design concept of “Modern Kaohsiung.” British architect Sir Richard Rogers led the project, creating a design motif called “Soaring” with a massive white canopy and lightweight yellow pylons. This white canopy not only gives Central Park Station a fashionable atmosphere and architectural beauty, but also incorporates a special rainwater harvesting system that channels rainwater into a stepped waterfall inside the station. Sunlight, flowing water, and the green plants on all four walls dress the station like a fresh, natural forest, echoing and connecting with Central Park. At night, lights illuminate both inside and outside the station; the twin elevators and the waterfall become dazzling. The translucent roof, appearing to flutter in the wind, symbolizes the city’s vibrancy, flight, and growth.
