This is a unique Paiwan village originally located on Xianglan Mountain. During the Japanese colonial period, the villagers were forced to descend the mountain and gradually migrated to their current location in Xinxianglan after a few relocations, where they now live alongside the Amis tribe. As a result, every July in Xinxianglan, both the Amis tribe's Harvest Festival and the Paiwan tribe's Harvest Celebration take place.
Just after entering the Laolaolan village, visitors can see the village reception center, which is also an essential site for local industry development—the Millet Craft Workshop. Laolaolan is dedicated to promoting millet planting, cultivating a two-acre millet field on a hill behind the village. In recent years, with growing emphasis on health and wellness, the benefits of millet have increasingly gained attention.
Within the Laolaolan village is the renowned indigenous writer Alenglong Sakunu. His first work, "Boar, Flying Squirrel, Sakunu," uses vibrant and engaging writing to convey indigenous people's commitment to environmental protection and respect for nature.
