“Ruby Miners’ Canteen” sits on Jingtong Old Street in Pingxi District, New Taipei City; it was once the miners’ welfare club for the Shidi Coal Mine. To recreate the mining atmosphere of the early Republic era, the owner has covered the walls with oversized documentary photos of miners at work, vintage tobacco-and-alcohol monopoly signs, and classic movie posters, filling the space with nostalgic charm. The menu revives old-time favorites—miner set meals, railroad bento, and toasted-flour tea—tasting memories for every guest.
