台中市清水區高美路789號
The Gaomei Wetlands landscape bridge spans a 120‑metre-wide Qingshui River, with a curved deck measuring 265 m in total length and 7.2 m wide, and approaches on both sides extending 132 m. The bridge was initially conceived to integrate the sunset, the wetlands, wind‑turbine towers, and the local heritage of bamboo‑pole‑supported boats, costing over 200 million New Taiwan dollars and taking nearly two years to build. It created a uniquely designed bridge never seen in Taiwan before. To avoid impacting the local ecosystem, no piers were erected in the river, and a low‑attraction lighting system was installed. Environmental monitoring was carried out during construction, yielding positive results. Moreover, wind‑tunnel testing of the landscape bridge confirmed its excellent wind‑resistance, ensuring the structural safety of the bridge. Combined with a complete bicycle network and recreational viewing areas, the Gaomei Wetlands landscape bridge is expected to further enhance the quality of coastal tourism.
