Hidden within Taipei Port, where massive ships come and go, lies a small fishing harbor so tranquil it feels like a secret realm. This place, known as Xiaguzi Fishing Port, is a little-known sanctuary in Bali. Situated inside the Taipei Port Special District, it is now classified as a Category II fishing port, sheltering mostly vessels from nearby Taoyuan and Tamsui. In recent years, as cycling tourism along the Tamsui River has flourished, the Bali Left-Bank Bikeway stretches 16 kilometers from the Guanyin River mouth to Xiaguzi Fishing Port, passing Guandu Bridge, Bali Ferry Pier, Wedding Plaza, and on to Wazihwei Ecological Reserve and the Shihsanhang Museum—blending culture, ecology, and heritage into a rare cycling oasis amid the urban jungle. At Xiaguzi Fishing Port, traditional blue-hulled sampans bob beside the quay, and because the port faces west, it has become one of the finest spots to watch the sunset. As the sun sinks, the elevated West Coast Expressway spans the harbor, the calm water mirrors the quiet port, and shifting light delivers an unexpected, breathtaking sunset drama that leaves every visitor spellbound.
