This bicycle path and pedestrian path starts from Shuishe Wharf, extends along the shore of Sun Moon Lake to Chaowu Wharf, Zhushi Garden and Wenwu Temple. The total length is about 3.5 kilometers. Some sections offer a panoramic view of Hanbi Peninsula and Shuishe Wharf. The path is a popular and flat route.
The Shuishe Waterfront Promenade entrance is on the left of Shuishe Wharf. The promenade serves as an important pedestrian route from Shuishe Wharf to Jiulong Mouth. The entire path consists of a barrier-free slope, making it an ideal route for families. The path is gentle and easy to traverse. It follows the wooden stilts walkway along the lake shore, passing through Chaowu Wharf to Jiulong Mouth.
The path is shaded with lush trees and even in the peak summer months, it does not feel hot. There are rest points set up along the way where visitors can stop to rest. Visitors can also enjoy the view from the railing and watch the tourist boats coming and going on the lake. The calm lake reflects sunlight and shimmers like a myriad of gold and silver dropped into the lake. On foggy days, the Xuanzang Temple on the Qinglong Mountain appears like an ancient temple in a Chinese painting, evoking a sense of nostalgia. The Cien Pagoda on the Shabalanku Mountain is visible from any point on the path, standing tall like a sword, watching over Sun Moon Lake.
At Jiulong Mouth, there are man-made floating islands covered with wild ginger flowers on the lake. Visitors may spot a Night Heron hiding under the leaves, preparing to hunt. If visitors are energetic and have the interest, they can continue walking to the staircase at Wenwu Temple or climb up to Zhushi Garden on the opposite side for another journey. At night, looking back at Shuishe Wharf from the path, the hotels and restaurants shine like colorful gems against the dark night, even more dazzling.
