Wuhu Village is the hometown of Tien-huo Cha (Tienti Tea). Since the promotion of tea cultivation by the Agriculture and Forestry Office in 1973, under the guidance of experts and through continuous improvements, the quality of the tea has progressively improved. "Tienti Tea" has finally become a rising star among Taiwan-produced teas. The tea production of Wuhu has now risen to the level of being a renowned tea-growing area in the entire province, gaining fame both domestically and internationally. With the economic development in the Suzhai region, the roads have been widened, and vacation homes are standing everywhere, attracting a continuous stream of tourists. If you drive through Wuhu Terrace, you’ll behold a sea of tea plantations. Scattered across the vast Wuhu Terrace are some thirty to forty tea farms that produce and sell their own tea. Each proprietor has a unique method of tea processing. Today, Wuhu Village has developed into a new rural tourism destination. Visitors touring the Hualien–Taitung Valley often stop at these tea farms to rest, drink tea, savor tea desserts such as tea confections, tea sugar, green tea pastries, and tea crumbles—all experiences that rank highly among life's pleasures. Wuhu produces mainly oolong tea varieties, including Qingxin Oolong, Jinxiuan, and Cuiyu Baizhong. The tea leaves are thick and tender, with exquisite flavor, highly favored by tea enthusiasts. There are also fully equipped resort hotels and homestays available here. We recommend you take a weekend trip to Wuhu Terrace to savor fresh tea and enjoy a relaxing and tranquil rural getaway.
