During the Daoguang period of the Qing dynasty, the First Opium War broke out between China and the UK. At that time, in order to prevent the British army from entering Taiwan, Yao Ying, the Taiwan military commissioner, proposed to build 17炮台in the Anping and 台江areas. The Sichao Fort was one of them. The Sichao Fort was listed as a national historic site of secondary category. Now, the ancient炮台are no longer in sight, and only the walls of the fort remain. There are 13 circular炮孔on the walls of the fort, and the walls have become the walls of the Tainan City Zhenhai Elementary School next to it. The Sichao Fort is located in front of the Sichao Mazu Temple. There is a well-known scenic spot, the Green Tunnel, nearby. Visitors can take an sightseeing bamboo boat ride through the waterway to enjoy the beautiful natural ecology.
