Bishan Ancient Trail and Tiaoshui Ancient Trail run parallel to each other; before entering Bishan, you must first walk a section of Tiaoshui and then switch to Bishan. The starting point of Bishan has a steep gradient—take care. Tiaoshui follows a mountain stream and irrigation ditch, while Bishan runs along the ridge, one high, one low, forming a loop trail. Bishan begins as a dirt path and later becomes a farm road, bordered by longan, lychee, pomelo, jackfruit, lemon trees, and natural woodland; parts overlook the highway. Midway, a stone “heaven ladder” stair links the two trails, but it is steep and difficult. After passing through dense lychee and longan groves, a junction leads to the historic Donglong Temple, then via Dazhang Rd. Sec. 672 to County Hwy 139. From the junction you can also reach a rest platform and descend wooden steps back to Tiaoshui.
