The Henglu Old Trail was once the only route between Henglu residents and the Xiaobantian village. Originally a bamboo arch bridge, it was washed away by the August 7 Flood, which also widened the river so much that another arch bridge could not be built. The following year the government funded a steel-cable suspension bridge, yet the immense force of Typhoon Toraji destroyed it and left the crossing impassable. In 2007 the county government allocated ten million dollars to erect a new suspension bridge, named the Bantian Bridge, integrating it with the Xiaobantian Leisure Agricultural Area to form a new tourist route.
