Two years before the Republic of China, during the Japanese colonial era, in Wucheng Village and Xinxing Village, there was a natural growth of camphor trees, which were of excellent quality. The Japanese valued camphor oil and the products made from it. The employees who worked with camphor were called "nao ding". While transporting camphor, one nao ding suddenly felt abdominal pain and fainted. A worker nearby saw a small spring under a nearby rock and quickly fetched some clear water for the nao ding to drink. The nao ding's pain subsided, and their spirit was lifted. Three years later, on the Duanwu Festival, a severe storm with heavy rain and strong winds occurred. The ground cracked, and a sinkhole formed, revealing seven stone lotus flowers. The next day, workers who were transporting goods saw this and spread the news. Many nao ding came to see the stone lotus flowers. A well-known geographer, Master An, examined the site and declared it a sacred place, naming it the "Guanyin Seat Lotus". The nao ding gathered and decided to build a temple. In the second year of the Republic of China, a wooden temple called the "Jixian Gong" was built, dedicated to the Stone Guanyin Bodhisattva. Later, when a railway was built, the area became more accessible, but a feverish illness spread, causing people to feel weak and tired. The Guanyin Bodhisattva appeared in a dream to the believers, telling them to fetch clear water from the spring. During the period between 1943 and 1945, the area was bombed by American planes, causing widespread destruction and fear among the residents. However, the Guanyin Bodhisattva's temple seemed to offer protection, and no one was hurt during the bombings. On October 25, 1945, Taiwan was returned to China, and the residents were grateful for the Bodhisattva's protection. In 1946, the villagers decided to rebuild the temple using brick and stone. In 1982, the Minghu Hydroelectric Power Plant was completed, and the area became even more accessible. The temple has since been renovated and expanded to accommodate the growing number of believers.
