Nestled within the Taoyuan Hutou Mountains, this 3-hectare site sits in a valley ringed by peaks. A pristine stream fed by Hutou Mountain winds through it; before development it was a tangle of weeds and broken walls, yet bursting with life. When Yam.com moved in in 2003, it vowed not to disturb the original landform, preserving large swaths of terraced fields. Seasonal organic rotations of vegetables share space with extensive plantings of native Taiwanese bananas and herbs. Over a thousand Taiwanese cherry trees, dawn redwoods, water-lilies, and nectar-rich plants draw clouds of butterflies.
