The Ren-De Sugar Factory, established in 1915 (two years before the founding of the Republic of China), is located near the Bao'an Station. Formerly known as Che Lu Kouang Sugar Factory, it was a part of the Taiwan Sugar Corporation during the Japanese colonial era. The factory is a vintage Japanese-style architecture. With a rich history, Ren-De Sugar Factory was the most efficient sugar factory in Taiwan during the Japanese rule. Although it may not have a prominent sign, it is a well-known landmark among locals. Visitors to this historic site should not miss the various popular and affordable ice treats such as ice bars, crispy ice cream, and red bean milk ice. Whether you are looking for old-time flavors or new treats, you can find them all at the sugar factory.
