Step into the fairy-tale world of the Six Little Pigs. The classic tale of the Three Little Pigs is reborn in modern times as the “Six Little Pigs” hiding in the alley off Wenhua Road. Led by them, visitors embark on a re-imagined fairy-tale renovation of Aimu Village—discovering the beautiful world of hinoki cypress. Aimu Village was once Shun-Yi Timber, a Chiayi institution for half a century. When the second-generation owners, Yen Wei-Te and his wife, inherited the business, they spent three years persuading the family elders to keep wood’s possibilities alive. From doubt and incomprehension to final acceptance, those three years gave birth to Aimu Village—a place meant to show how wood can be used, to reveal the mysteries of trees and the history of forestry, and, above all, to preserve visitors’ memories of timber. Guided by this original intention, every detail—interior design, copywriting, spatial planning—was personally crafted by the couple. Interactive game zones and DIY woodworking experiences were specially laid out so children and adults alike leave with happy memories and a record of the day, learning while playing. After the fun, don’t miss the house specialities: Hinoki Joy Eggs and fruit popsicles. Unlike ordinary tea eggs, Hinoki Joy Eggs are simmered with Chinese herbs and hinoki cypress—healthy, delicious, and leaving a faint cypress aroma on the palate. The fruit popsicles contain only milk and fruit; the owner refuses emulsifiers or additives, so guests taste the purest fruit flavor with peace of mind. Though Aimu Village is young, it keeps refining itself. In just five years, visitor numbers have kept climbing, and plans for adult craft classes are on the horizon. With such devoted care, the village will surely keep surprising us. Recommended treats: Hinoki Joy Eggs, fruit popsicles, dorayaki ice-cream, winter-melon tea.
