Guided Tours at the Visitor Center Reveal the Coastal Charm of Yancheng The North Gate Visitor Center of the Yunlin-Changhua-Kaohsiung Coast National Scenic Area is converted from the southwestern warehouse group of the old Beimen Salt Refinery, with its original gable roof and factory facade preserved. The center features an introduction to the scenic area's attractions, divided into geographical sections from north to south, integrating tourism resources such as salt industry history, wetland ecology, religious and cultural heritage, local industries, and literary arts. Inside the center, there are multimedia exhibition areas for visitor interaction. Outside, there are also impressive displays: * The Art Exhibition Wall of Self-Taught Artist Hong Tong: Mr. Hong Tong, a self-taught artist from Beimen, is known as the "Oriental Picasso." His works exhibit spirituality and strong mental power, with delicate brushstrokes and intricate textures. The mysterious text paintings and richly colored style are still widely acclaimed. The scenic area administration has used his diverse and mysterious paintings to decorate the east side door and window and the west side exterior wall of the visitor center. * The Sperm Whale Specimen: The story of this sperm whale specimen and Beimen dates back to December 29, 2005, when a giant male sperm whale (about 14 meters long and 50 tons) was found stranded on the Wangye Harbor reef. Due to its massive size and weight, it was temporarily buried on-site. In February 2008, with the support of the Tainan County Government, the National Taiwan Museum, and a professional team, as well as enthusiastic Beimen residents, the whale was excavated, and its specimen was made and exhibited at the National Taiwan Museum. In 2009, it was moved to the Xiaoluo Cultural Park in Tainan City and on December 4 of the same year, it was transported back to the Beimen Visitor Center, where it was warmly welcomed by local residents.
