The Shierliao area is located near the Embay Lake, and it was once a major producer of camphor oil, earning it the name "Camphor Liao". Later, it came to be known as Shierliao because it ranked 12th in production. Another notable fact is that the early developers of the Shierliao area were mostly from the Huang family, and even after decades, the Huang family members still make up the majority of the population.
In recent years, the protection of the natural environment and the development of the tourism industry have led to the establishment of the Shierliao Leisure Agriculture Area. The Huguang area is located in the central part of Emei Township, covering an area of over 10,000 kilometers, making it the second-largest village in the township. The area is surrounded by the Dapu Reservoir and the Emei Creek, with hills enclosing the plain, which is dotted with numerous ponds. The area features a complete lakeside walking path, the Shierliao Ancient Path, and a cycling tourism route, as well as a creatively designed landscape that enhances the natural beauty of the lake and mountains. This makes Shierliao a charming destination with unique scenic views, perfect for urban tourists seeking a holiday getaway.
The Shierliao Leisure Agriculture Area, which has long been focused on agricultural development, is particularly known for its production of citrus fruits and pomelos. Additionally, it features net-room cultivation and greenhouse cultivation, boasting a diverse range of agricultural cultural resources. These professional agricultural features make the Shierliao Leisure Agriculture Area an ideal recreational spot for urban farmers, family groups, and senior citizens.
