In the late 1990s, when 7-Eleven came to Kinmen, mom-and-pop grocery stores struggled to survive, so this one reinvented itself as an Italian-style coffee shop. Besides espresso drinks, it sells soy milk and tofu pudding; recently it added sorghum pickled-cabbage dumplings. The tofu pudding and all its toppings are made in-house, while the dumplings feature Kinmen’s famous sorghum pickled cabbage, contain no seasonings, and are plump and round—an unusual flavor adventurous eaters should try.
