苗栗縣造橋鄉鄭漢步道
The Zhenghan Trail is located in Tanwen Village, Zaoqiao Township, along the route of Provincial Highway 1. The trail is approximately 2 kilometers long, with some uphill and downhill sections. Although it's not as famous as the "Good Han Slope", the trail is rich in flora and fauna, with trees like camphor, casuarina, and wild begonias. The trail uses wooden sleepers as stairs, giving it a vintage feel, and offers great views and pleasant scenery. At the top of the trail is the "Zheng Han Memorial Monument", which commemorates a heroic story. In 1964, a young man named Zheng Han from Tanwen Village was working in the fields when he heard children playing by the Zhonggang River crying for help as they were swept away by the current. Without hesitation, Zheng Han jumped into the river to save them, but unfortunately, his leg was cut by a wire from a dam, and he was unable to swim ashore and drowned. The then-Minister of Education, Yan Zhenxing, erected a monument on a hill with a great view to commemorate Zheng Han's selfless act, inscribing the phrase "Ren ni ji ni" (When others suffer, I suffer too). From the memorial monument, you can look out over the Zhonggang River plain and the Taiwan Strait, offering a great view. This is the biggest selling point of the Zhenghan Trail. Since its opening, more and more people have been visiting the trail on weekends to walk and exercise.
