"The Song of the Forest" is located at the intersection of Cultural Road and the longitudinal railway in Chiayi City. The design features towering trees and Alishan railway tracks, creating a serene spiritual tower. Vertical wooden strips surround the theme, evoking the image of Alishan's ancient trees embracing the clouds. The curved pathway outside resembles the Alishan railway tracks, winding through the mountains and passing through tunnels. The rattan woven walkway presents natural light and shadow changes, like a forest train winding through Alishan's scenery. The base of the main structure is stacked with stones, echoing the majestic standing stones of Alishan, presenting a grand and magnificent image. The inspiration comes from the Ku Ba style of the Zou tribe in Alishan and the native bamboo and rattan weaving. The structure utilizes materials provided by the Forestry Bureau, including wood, railway tracks, and stones, to provide visitors with a natural experience. The copper woven golden dome shines with sunlight, and the moonlight and starlight change; the interior floor is made of oak and cypress wood, filled with the fragrance of essential oils. The transparent and surrounding exterior reveals more natural scenery. Through the open dome, the changing sky is presented, and the changes in nature in Alishan surprise people all the time! Visitors entering the structure feel as if they are walking on clouds, experiencing the five-sense enjoyment of Alishan. The creator, Wang Wen-zhi, was born in the greater Alishan area, and he used his familiar hometown flavor, combined with his expertise in bamboo and rattan weaving and natural material utilization, to shape this modern "Song of the Forest" art piece. The work revives the former glory of Chiayi's "Wood City" and shapes the international landmark landscape of the Forestry Art Park, allowing tourists from all over the world to feel the natural spirituality of the Alishan forest area even on the plains.
