The Gong Tian Fu De Temple in Hurn Lu Di, located on the 300-meter high Nan Shi Jiao Mountain, offers a broad view and a great place for viewing the night scenery of the Greater Taipei Area. The temple is also the most popular Lu Tu Gong (Land God) temple in North Taiwan for praying for wealth. The main hall of the temple enshrines the gods of fortune, childbirth, and the mountain. The Cai Shen Hall enshrines the gods of wealth, literature, and the star of marriage. Visitors come to Hurn Lu Di not only to see the largest Lu Tu Gong statue but also to touch the giant yuanbao (treasure) that has been polished by worshippers. The legend says that by touching it, one can ensure a prosperous year. *Tip: The main hall is located at a higher elevation. If you are bringing elderly people, you might want to park your vehicle at the Hou Shan parking lot. The origin of Hurn Lu Di The Hurn Lu Di or Nan Shi Jiao Mountain has an altitude of 302 meters and is located on the south edge of Zhong He District. The Nan Shan Fu De Temple was built by immigrants from Zhang Zhou. At the time, Nan Shi Jiao was still a wilderness. The temple was built to protect the land. The temple got its name because its back and both sides have mountain peaks that resemble a stove. The temple's Lu Tu Gong is very spiritual and became well known. As more people visit the temple, a road was built, making it a case of "a road built after a temple". Hiking and Scenic Views Besides praying for good fortune, Hurn Lu Di attracts many hikers and tourists who come to enjoy its beautiful scenery. Visitors can walk to the nearby Chai Cheng Trail or climb up to the Nan Shi Jiao Mountain through the trail behind the temple. At the top, you can see a broad view of the Taipei basin. You can see the two rivers of Da Han and Xin Dian, and if the weather permits, you can see Taipei 101. From a distance, you can see the mountains of Guanyin and Da Tun, and the mouth of the Danshui River.
