The new Kaohsiung Railway Station, designed by the Dutch architectural team Mecanoo, was developed based on the concept of the "Heart of Kaohsiung." Located at the central hub of the city, the design integrates natural ecology with a multi-tiered plaza open space. It features a large-scale green landscape ceiling with a clear height exceeding 6 meters, transforming the station area into a beautiful scenic park. The underground station concourse of the "sunken plaza" showcases a vaulted lighting system inspired by traditional temple courtyard lanterns, complemented by the soft, billowing white cloud-inspired ceiling. During the day, natural light pours in through skylights and the spacious canopy, creating a bright, clean, and expansive public space.
