The Taiping Tobacco Purchasing Station was built in 1955 as a place where the Tobacco Office appraises and purchases tobacco leaves from farmers. Because it witnessed the development of Taiping’s tobacco, it was officially registered as a historic building in 2013. After restoration, the site has been planned into three main exhibition areas: first, a local arts and culture exhibition zone; second, a tobacco leaf interpretation hall that introduces the history of the tobacco industry; and finally, a memorial hall showcasing works by internationally renowned iron sculptor Chen Ting-shih. This creates a new space that blends history and artistic culture.
