The Perfect Harmony of Fresh Fruit and Tangy Yogurt
When delicious yogurt meets fresh fruit, a vibrant, delightful flavor quietly unfolds in Chiayi. Fresh, handmade, and free of artificial coloring, this fruit yogurt is the commitment of owner Ko Po-jen to his family and customers. After a mid-career change from a job completely unrelated to the food industry, Ko began this sweet-and-sour journey simply to make something healthy for his beloved wife and family. Knowing his wife’s love for fruit, Ko enlisted a relative who grows produce, starting with a juice stand. Using local fresh ingredients, the simplest natural methods, and no flavorings, colorings, or artificial seasonings, he gradually developed healthy, delicious jams and dried fruits, and later created fresh fruit yogurt—layering bright colors, fresh flavors, and fruity aromas into a dreamy yogurt experience!
At first, locals in Chiayi weren’t accustomed to yogurt’s tangy taste, so Boss Ko visited schools and companies door-to-door, offering free samples to promote his products. From customer feedback he slowly refined the recipe, crafting a yogurt whose sourness arrives later, winning over children and adults alike and gradually building fame. Once a mere side item in the shop, yogurt has now become the star!
The handmade yogurt meets SGS inspection standards; its freshness stems from strict control at the source. Ko works exclusively with designated dairy farmers to ensure milk origin, quality, and flavor meet requirements. This year he also contracted local farmers to grow roselle—whose seeds were harvested from last year’s own crop. Openly sharing the origin and production process lets consumers eat with peace of mind and feel the heartfelt care.
Consequently, Meijuke Yogurt Specialty was selected to exhibit at the Tokyo Food Expo—the largest food fair in Asia—in both 2017 and 2018, sharing Taiwan’s local flavors and the purest essence of yogurt with the world.
