台東縣長濱鄉樟原路67號
Zhangyuan is located at the northernmost tip of Taitung County's East Coast, facing the Pacific Ocean to the east, abutting the East Coast Range to the west, bordering Paoshan Cave to the south, and connecting to the Long-Hong Bridge to the north. Supported by mountains and surrounded by rivers, its scenery is exceptionally charming. The majority of the local residents are members of the Amis tribe, most of whom are engaged in farming, odd jobs, and fishing; the local customs are sincere and simple, and the people live a hardworking and frugal life. The most distinctive landmark of Zhangyuan Village is the “Zhangyuan Presbyterian Church.” Inspired by the spirit of Noah's Ark, the Amis tribe of the village raised funds voluntarily and organized activities such as sales of handcrafted items, wild vegetable trading, and frog catching to finance the design and construction of a church. This building is acclaimed as the most beautiful church in Taiwan with the distinctive architectural style of Noah's Ark. Its two sides are encircled with low walls resembling a ship approaching Zhangyuan Port, guarding the local residents. The vivid red-brick walls with tribal totems symbolize the enduring tribal culture of the original homeland of the Amis. Additionally, to the southernmost part of Zhangyuan Village lies the “Zhangyuan Bridge,” with three bridges—old, medium, and new—paralleling each other across the Jhudung Creek. Due to the uneven terrain, they form a unique landscape. The East Coast National Scenic Area Management Office under the Ministry of Transportation and Communications has also established a "Zhangyuan Bridge Rest Area" to enhance visitor experience. Visitors standing on the new bridge can admire the old bridge made of cobblestones and the arch bridge spanning the valley, displaying the natural scenery and the charm of ancient simplicity.
