The exteriors of the houses in the Basawali tribe are painted with totems symbolizing Amis dance. When passing through the Taroko 11th Line, they are highly recognizable and clearly indicate that this is an Amis tribe village. At the entrance of the Taroko 11th Line leading to Fugang Harbor, the tribal meeting house of Basawali can be seen. This is the site where the tribe hosts the Harvest Festival every July. To the north of the Small Yeliu Scenic Area, the Kalulan Recreation Area offers an excellent vantage point for viewing the sea. Covering nearly three hectares, this recreation area was originally fill dirt pileup from the construction of Jieshou Air Base but was eventually planned as a large green space filled with driftwood artworks by indigenous artists, transforming it into a natural and artistically refined area.
