Fuwon Estate is Pingtung County’s first leisure farm to successfully rezone land designated for a specific purpose. Born of a deep love for the local soil, the estate was built with ecological engineering methods and is now presenting Donggang’s distinctive charm in an entirely new way. At its heart stands an earthen-walled house that serves as a vessel for cultural and artistic heritage: bricks are made by mixing local yellow earth, black sugar, rice husks, and seaweed in fixed proportions, then kneading, fermenting, and setting them in a three-stage, six-month process; the outer walls are finished with a protective coat of slaked lime and tung oil. The house hosts rotating exhibitions of artists’ work, allowing estate guests to experience diverse interpretations of life through art and enjoy an exquisite spiritual feast while on holiday.
