The Iron Horse is on fire! Come to Jiaoyou Iron Horse Trail to refuel! The Jiaoyou Iron Horse Trail was built on the old idle railway of China Oil, starting from the China Oil factory area on Shixian Road, Section 4, in Chiayi City, passing through Meiyuan, Guanglu, Shizi, and Hongwacuowan villages, as well as three villages in Shuikou Township: Sanhe, Xialiao, and Huigui. The trail ends at the North Return Line Station Astronomical Square, with a total length of 3500 meters. It is planned to become a dedicated bicycle path and scenic green corridor to enhance recreational and tourist resources in Chiayi City. The newly planned scenic green belt lays 2-meter-wide bicycle paths on both sides of the original railway, and sets up rest pavilions, wetland ecology, and lotus ponds according to the terrain and hydrology along the route. Trees and shrubs are planted along the path, and entrance arches are set up at important road intersections. This fully meets the multi-functional needs of ecology, aesthetics, tourism, and recreation. The Jiaoyou Iron Horse Trail was once part of the "Chiayi Chemical Plant," a rare industrial relic in Taiwan with a special historical background and precious humanistic landscape resources. The Chiayi City Government, through careful planning, has given new life to the old railway, transforming it into a dedicated bicycle path and a pedestrian trail for citizens to stroll and enjoy. The trail was named "Jiaoyou Iron Horse Trail" through a citizen's vote. The trail runs through cities, villages, and countryside, with elegant and pleasant scenery, friendly and intimate environment, and strong tourist charm. It is a great place for family vacations, sightseeing, and recreation. "Chiayi Chemical Plant" Historical Encyclopedia The Chiayi Chemical Plant was founded in 1938 by the Taiwan Colonial Company during the Japanese colonial period, using sweet potato starch as raw material to produce butanol, propanol, and ethanol. At the time, it was the world's largest fermentation-type butanol professional factory. In 1942, a dedicated railway was built to connect with the main line of the longitudinal railway. The plant produced solvents that were transported to Kaohsiung Port via the dedicated railway and then shipped to Japan. During World War II, the Chiayi Chemical Plant became an important secret fuel base for Japan. Spot Construction: April 12, 2008
