Originating in 1969, the early logging industry in Puli created more than 450 small and large woodworking factories. “Haisan Handicraft Society” was born under the three brothers of Shi Jia, producing large quantities of Christmas decorations such as Christmas pyramids and incense-wood dolls for export. What sets Haisan Handicraft Society apart is that it is one of the few workshops that made “walnut pliers” and “music boxes.” In 2012, it transformed into a workshop where visitors could experience woodcraft, adopting the form of a music box. This allowed the company to inherit past woodworking manufacturing expertise and shift from traditional contract manufacturing to its own branded design, production and marketing. By utilizing idle factory space, the shop promotes Puli’s woodcraft heritage and upholds the values of past artisans. One of the second‑generation management strategies is to refine and customize the DIY products previously considered simple, turning them into giftable holiday items for someone very dear—an irreplaceable expression of self‑completion. With these simple materials, life’s beauty can be transformed into hope. We hope you enjoy the “knocking wood” products and that they bring cherished memories on your important holidays, making it worthwhile for us to keep striving forward.
