桃園市八德區龍南路與洪圳路交叉口
The 200-year-old Xiaoli Daichi is not only the first pond in Taoyuan but also the largest in the Badong area. During the Qianlong era, the indigenous Plains tribes named this location based on their village name "Xiaoli Village," and together with Han immigrants, they constructed the pond at the southernmost part of Badong at that time. By exploiting the topography, they channeled the stream flows and spring water to create the water source for the Xiaoli Canal's (the precursor to the Shimen Canal) irrigation. The abundant irrigation resources fostered a bountiful scene of "boundless Xiaoli rice fields and inexhaustible Xiaoli rice grains." Walking along the scenic path, one can appreciate the swaying rice waves while contemplating the hardships of early settlers, inevitably evoking a sense of gratitude. On the constantly flowing Highway 112, the pleasant scenery of Xiaoli Daichi presents a strikingly contrasting charm. Gazing ahead, the 6-mu-wide pond surface glimmering with crystal-clear ripples, lines of pine trees along the banks shifting with vivid seasonal hues, traditional quadrangle ancestral homes and low-rise houses interweaving, distant hills layering like ink wash paintings, visitors chatting in groups at the observation deck, and cyclists pausing briefly at pavilions… Visiting in winter adds to the experience by heading to Lane 185, Fugai Street for the dreamlike, breathtaking sight of bald cypress and Persian daisies. Xiaoli Daichi is not merely a recreational spot for locals but also the southern starting point of the "Badong Qiehong Xiaoli Sunshine Cycle Path." Traveling northward from the cycling route allows visitors to explore cultural attractions like the Hakka old house cluster, the Shimo Nanyang Cultural Landscape Area, and the Dahuohoushan Laundry Pool, forming a charming educational and refreshingly artistic journey.
