桃園市龜山區大同路138巷
Nestled among modern residential communities, Hsian-Kuang Village II appears to exist apart from the world, with tranquil old houses, weathered walls, and elderly trees covered in yellowing leaves seemingly freezing time in a single moment. The atmosphere here has witnessed the passage of time, evoking numerous stories about the past. Walking through the entrance to the row of first-row buildings leads directly to the \"National Revolutionary Veterans’ Village Resources Center,\" a hub dedicated to connecting veterans' villages nationwide. The center focuses on collecting resources, education, exchange, promotion, and cross-sector collaboration to inventory and consolidate resources for preserving the precious memories of village life. Therefore, Hsian-Kuang Village II serves as one of these vital contributors. The flat-style buildings of Hsian-Kuang Village II are arranged in neat rows. To the right is the Central Banyan Tree Plaza, once a gathering place for children to play and for adults to chat. Over 50 years have passed since the young trees planted then have matured into grand banyan trees, continuing to shelter this land. Additionally, this plaza was historically transformed into an open-air cinema for patriotic films aired by the Command Headquarters of the Constabulary. Notably, buildings 44 and 45 housed administrative spaces for the autonomous village council and women's groups, providing venues for meetings and events. During summer vacation, the Constabulary Command Headquarters also dispatched university students to teach calligraphy, English, and other courses for children at the autonomous village space—an activity reminiscent of modern summer childcare programs. These structures still retain their original form. Currently undergoing restoration, Hsian-Kuang Village II hosts exhibitions, workshops, art creations, and other events in its open spaces, revitalizing the culture of veterans’ villages. If you wish to experience the culture of these villages and walk through their history, visiting Hsian-Kuang Village II is undoubtedly an unforgettable cultural journey.
