連江縣東引鄉東引中柱港
Dongyu Township’s Main Gateway Dongyu is the northernmost island of the Matsu Archipelago, the closest to Taiwan. Suspended in the East China Sea, its landscapes and topography are extraordinarily captivating. Calling it a "national treasure-level coastline" is by no means an exaggeration. The primary entrance to Dongyu Island is Zhongzhu Port. When arriving in large vessels, passengers can clearly see the bold red Chinese characters “中柱港” (Zhongzhu Port) carved into the cliff face from the deck, signaling the end of a long journey. Upon disembarking, the towering sculpture of the “Dream Fish – Striped Sea Bream” at the dock immediately draws attention as one of the island’s key landmarks. Just northeast of Zhongzhu Port, clustered densely on the hills, are Hua Village and Zhongliu Village—the liveliest neighborhoods in Dongyu, filled with traditional Min Dong-style dwellings. These are typically where visitors choose to gather and dine. Dongyu’s Rugged Landmark Terrain The entire Dongyu Island is composed of granite, with coastal cliffs, sea stacks, and sea caves scattered across the island, often leaving tourists in awe. The rugged rocky shores are jagged, with towering cliffs and deep waters. Combined with seasonal migrations of economically valuable fish species to the shores, fishing activities are highly active here. The site is universally acknowledged by Taiwanese anglers as a sacred spot for coastal fishing.
