This is a story of a tech talent who abandoned a high-paying job to return to the mountains and countryside. Here, you can hear a story of struggle that intertwines care for the environment and community warmth. It's a great place for kids to get to know nature and learn humility. The Nanwai community in Beipu Township has recently received subsidies from the Ministry of Construction, the Soil and Water Conservation Bureau, and the Hsinchu County Government. Their community activity center is about to be completed and will take on the responsibility of caring for the community's elderly in the future. The butterfly-shaped ecological pond in front of the center has also begun to rehabilitate aquatic plants. One of the key figures behind all these software and hardware facilities is Chen Shaozhong, the owner of the Youdiancao Farm. Chen Shaozhong grew up in the Nanwai community, and the mountain behind his family was the lifeblood that supported his family. They grew citrus fruits, tea, and sweet potatoes, all of which relied on chemical fertilizers and pesticides. Until the colorful butterflies, thunderous frog songs, and fireflies that lit up the night disappeared from his memories, Chen Shaozhong realized that the land beneath his feet had changed. To save the farm's ecosystem, Chen Shaozhong quit his job at the science park and began to learn natural farming methods and ecological teaching. He wanted to transform the Youdiancao Farm into an ecological base suitable for parent-child outings and teacher-student learning. Twelve years have passed, and he has changed from an engineer with a science and technology background to an ecological farmer who can talk endlessly about the lives of insects and is full of stories about flowers and plants. His achievements are all in the Youdiancao Farm. Youdiancao is a common wild grass found beside agricultural fields and is a species endemic to Taiwan. Because the base of its flowers has nectar, it was a favorite wild food of children in the countryside. Using it as the name of the farm, apart from filling Chen Shaozhong's childhood memories, also represents his hope for the farm - that frog songs, butterfly dances, bird chirps, and buzzing bees can fill the farm with a lively and bustling atmosphere.
