"Taiwan Salt Museum Closed for Renovation from January 10, 2022"
The Taiwan Salt Museum is the only theme museum in Taiwan related to the salt industry, preserving Taiwan's salt culture assets for hundreds of years. "Salt" is the crystallization of the sweat and tears of salt workers, and the pile-like exterior shape is particularly distinctive, making it look like two white pyramids standing in the salt field. The east side of the Salt Museum is the Guangying Cave, the north side is the Salt Worker Residential Area, and the west side is the abandoned mechanical salt field, facing the Qigu Salt Mountain in the distance.
Walking into the lobby, the first thing that catches your eye is the simulated scene of the salt field from back in the day, taking you back to the 1940s and 1950s salt field life. The second floor of the museum is a historical snapshot of Taiwan's salt industry development, through the oral stories of local elderly and salt workers, old photographs, and various uses of salt in daily life. It's very suitable for kids to explore. In addition to learning about salt knowledge, the museum also offers various salt products and salt coffee, which you shouldn't miss!
