From the Taitung Chilu Village, a Bena (Paiwan) youth, the Beautiful Man Studio presents their culture, creativity, and attitude. They fuse elements of traditional Bena ethnic culture into modern everyday items. The studio’s creative products represent their culture, their quirky sense of humor, and their stories.
“Kamling” (Bena language, meaning “bell”) is the most common and indispensable accessory in traditional Bena attire. In Bena celebrations, the kamling is widely used by the community. Whenever the sound of a kamling rings out from afar, it signals that something important is happening in the village. Thus, the kamling also symbolizes the transmission of messages. The Beautiful Man Studio uses this as its brand logo, hoping that through brand building, the unique characteristics and values of the village, the Bena people, and the broader indigenous culture can be recognized, accepted, and loved by a wider audience—ultimately becoming a benchmark of Taiwanese culture, pop culture, and thought.
