Starting from Xuanguang Temple, the roughly 4 km stretch that passes through Tunnel No. 1 around the lake to the Mingtan outlet is a bike path designed especially for cyclists. This trail winds along the southern shore of Yuetan, offering rich and ever-changing ecology and forest scenery. Along the way you can gaze south over the Toushe Basin and north toward the Qinglong Mountains, making it an ideal route for carefree cycling. In particular, the panoramic view of the Toushe Basin from here—looking down from on high, with fields and houses laid out like a chessboard—evokes the idyllic Peach Blossom Spring described by Tao Yuanming.
