The old Mazu temple on the street corner was built in 1722 CE, making it the earliest Mazu shrine on Daliu Street. Together with Yongfu Temple, it is referred to as “the street‑corner Mazu shrine and the street‑end Guanyin pavilion.” Its main deity is the Heavenly Mother. Mazu statues in the Temple of Heaven all hold a ceremonial drum, symbolizing that the devotees’ petitions to her are reported to the Jade Emperor, who then adjudicates and decides. This is considered one of its distinctive features.
