ATOP (Wang Ding) was established in 1984, successfully developing computer connectors, mice, pen barrels, and plastic gears for quartz clock movements. In 2002, sensing the arrival of the global-village era and determined to stand out among the many movement factories, the company boldly invested heavily to cooperate with the Industrial Technology Research Institute in developing the “World-Time clock movement,” even traveling to Switzerland for guidance. After seven years of effort and relying on fully integrated in-house technology, it designed and produced the ATOP World-Time watch: simply rotate the city bezel and the hands automatically adjust to the new time zone while the dial shows day and night, earning patents worldwide and numerous domestic and international design awards. In 2012 it founded the Time Technology & Art Experience Museum, themed around time. What is time? Guided courses take time as their subject, letting visitors experience it through the five senses in fun, everyday ways, learn about world time zones, how clocks and watches are manufactured and assembled, and the key components involved. DIY activities include clocks, wall clocks, and wristwatches for an in-depth experience assembling quartz movements and designing personalized, one-of-a-kind items, savoring the watchmaker’s craft. The Wang Ding Time Technology & Art Experience Museum is a time-themed hall that blends knowledge, science, and art in an entertaining and educational way.
