The daytime 柳川 exudes a leisurely atmosphere, with clear water that allows you to closely admire the colorful koi, making it perfect for family outings and picnics; in the evening, 柳川 is filled with a romantic ambiance. Walking beneath the dazzling lights, watching the shimmering 柳 trees and the installation art swans, is not only a great spot for night photography but also an ideal place for couples to stroll at night. 柳川 is a breathing river. The embankments on both sides have been widened into gentle slopes to aid drainage and permeability. Through infiltration and evaporation, it alleviates the load on the drainage system during heavy rain. Below the riverbank, water-catching devices absorb moisture, store the water, and then recirculate it for irrigation. Under the channel, permeable drainage pipes (HDPE) are installed to adjust water sources between dry and wet seasons, creating a flexible space that absorbs water like a sponge. To protect water quality and ecology, the 柳川 water source is diverted upstream sewage and sent to the Zhonghua Water Quality Treatment Plant for processing. This has significantly improved the water quality, reducing it from severe pollution to mild pollution. In addition to transplanting 37 trees along the riverbank, 38 new water willows were planted to preserve the 柳川 atmosphere. Together with 159 native Taiwanese trees—including ferns, Taiwan laurel, and light-leaf trees—柳川 offers diverse scenery throughout the year.
