The Grand Water Rescue Emperor’s ancestral shrine, the Wutian Palace of the Guan Sheng Emperor, is said to have been established by the ancestors from Zhangzhou, Fujian, during the Kangxi era when they were invited to Taiwan to build a temple. After undergoing several renovations, its current form was established during the reconstruction in 1948. Every year on the 13th day of the fifth lunar month, the emperor’s birthday is celebrated and local residents perform plays and prayers.
