Success Elementary School, the century-old Jing Fu Temple Temple, and the Taoyuan Fruit and Vegetable Market—the historical city center filled with humanistic atmosphere, every corner bears the trajectory of the city's evolution. Located on Puxin Road, the Taoyuan Light & Shadow Cultural Hall (Taoyuan Light & Shadow Cultural Hall II) integrates the local street market culture and combines art, nostalgia, and family-oriented film themes to become a key cultural hub. Originally established as an elderly's cultural and wellness center, it was transformed into the Taoyuan City Arts and Cultural Center in 2005, and further converted into a cultural hall in 2014. It stands in contrast with Ma Zhu Xin Cun in Zhongli—Taoyuan Light & Shadow Theater (Taoyuan Light & Shadow Theater I) to the north and south. The first floor exhibition hall hosts three to four annual film-themed exhibitions, such as illustration exhibitions, International Women's Film Festival, and art cinematic exhibitions, etc. It has also invited renowned theater groups like Apple Theater Group, Wuchouwan Puppet Drama, Cup Theater Group, Ghost Child Corporation, Fierce Beauty Symphony Band, and Po Yu Zu, all of which attracted numerous attendees. Additionally, the venue also provides event showcase spaces for the Taoyuan Community University and schools, creating an accessible platform for arts promotion. The second floor features a reading zone and community university classrooms, while the third level serves as a screening hall. With a capacity of nearly 200 seats, it has been newly renovated. Only 2 kilometers from the Taoyuan Performance Center, the Taoyuan Light & Shadow Cultural Hall focuses equally on promoting arts education. Centered around cinema culture, Taoyuan Light & Shadow Cultural Hall not only organizes special film festivals, micro-film events, and graduation film showcases by universities and colleges, but also provides exhibition spaces for emerging directors and artists. It also organizes summer movie activities for families to enjoy a pleasant film-watching experience together.
