Dharma Drum Mountain is located in Jinshan District, New Taipei City, at the intersection of the North Coast Highway and the Yangjin Highway, on a hillside with a color scheme of mainly brown, gray, and white, derived from the earth's praise, presenting the Buddhist characteristics of stability and tranquility. Here, Master Sheng Yen gathered the merits of Buddhists from all over the world to build an integrated education, practice, and culture complex, the Dharma Drum Mountain World Buddhist Sacred Place. Along the road to Dharma Drum Mountain, there are three pilgrimage trails: the Creek Riverside Pilgrimage Trail, the Wishing Pilgrimage Trail, and the Mountain Climbing Trail. The scenery on the trails is surrounded by mountains on three sides, with beautiful scenery and bird songs, and travelers who come to Jinshan can take a trip to Dharma Drum Mountain to experience the atmosphere away from the worldly noise. The term "Dharma Drum" comes from the Lotus Sutra: "We wish that the heavens and humans would turn the supreme Dharma wheel, beat the great Dharma drum, and blow the great Dharma conch, raining down the great Dharma rain, and saving countless sentient beings. We all implore, to produce a profound and far-reaching sound." It means to hope that the sound of the Dharma drum can, like the evening drum and morning bell, make those who do not understand the Dharma hear, and make those who have never seen the Dharma see, expecting everyone to benefit from the Three Jewels of the Buddha, the Dharma, and the Sangha, and to bathe in the Dharma rain of compassion and wisdom, making the human world a healthy, peaceful, and harmonious paradise.
