2020-09-16
台北市北投區中山路、光明路沿線
Beitou Hot Springs have enjoyed a strong reputation since the Japanese colonial period, naturally drawing the attention of Japanese people who love hot spring bathing. Named according to the characteristics and effects of the springs, Taki-no-yu, Hoshino-yu, and Tate-no-yu were given these titles by the Japanese, who believe the springs have excellent therapeutic effects for skin diseases, nerve sensitivity, asthma, and rheumatism. For this reason, the springs have become one of the most famous hot spring attractions in northern Taiwan. The source of new Beitou hot springs is the Dafengzui Hot Spring area. The water quality belongs to the sulfate spring type, with a pH value around 3~4 and a yellowish-white, semi-transparent color. The water temperature averages 50~90℃ with a faint sulfur smell.

Today, hot spring hotels, guesthouses, and facilities in Beitou are mostly located along Zhongshan Road, Guangming Road, and near the North Beitou Park geothermal valley. Together with all 44 establishments, each one has its own unique characteristics. Diverse hot spring therapies and leisure facilities provide visitors with relaxing soaking experiences. Nearby attractions are also definitely worth visiting. For example, Sambōin Matsuguradō, listed as a third-grade historic site, Hoshino-yu, Takeda-no-yu, and the first hot spring hotel of Beitou—Tengu-an—all have deep historical backgrounds. Additionally, popular visitor attractions such as Beitou Park, Beitou Hot Spring Museum, Beitou Cultural Museum, and the geothermal valley offer a rich array of cultural and historical experiences. When visiting Beitou for a hot spring detox and physical rejuvenation, you can also take the opportunity to learn about the deep cultural and historical heritage of the area.
