Jinxiu Zhuang Cultural Park is located in Wayaokeng, Tamsui, covering more than 2,000 ping. The grounds are carpeted with green grass, flowers bloom in smiles, and the trees stand tall and majestic. For thirty-two years the owner has devoted himself to its creation, harmoniously blending the rare stone carvings and antiquities he has collected with the original landscape. Pavilions, ponds, grottoes, stone-stepped paths, calligraphy, paintings, Buddha and lion statues—ancient stories revived—lend an elegant, timeless atmosphere everywhere. It is an open-air museum uniting craft aesthetics, natural ecology, and leisure.
Wayaokeng was once Tamsui’s famous brick-and-tile kiln district, but faded as times changed. This mysterious estate, set in the same valley, was originally a hillside that still held a Japanese-era gun-platform base and tunnels; under the owner’s meticulous planning, disparate materials and the existing land were woven into today’s manor scene. The garden design includes pavilions, ponds, viewing terraces, streams, horticulture, paths, and cropland, interspersed with the owner’s personal collection of Buddha images, stone lions, and carved stoneware.
In 2021, after two or three decades of continuous construction by owner Zhuang Wu-nan, Jinxiu Zhuang formally became a cultural park; its opening ceremony was held on 17 April. A refined two-storey exhibition hall was planned, suited to both two- and three-dimensional displays. For the inaugural exhibition, Chairman Zhuang reserved the space for the craftsmen’s association he leads, allowing these living national treasures, registered local craft preservers, and members of outstanding achievement to bear witness to what persistence through the years has wrought.
Henceforth the park will open to the public, sharing its pavilions and towers, garden stones, and stream-side paths, and will schedule thematic arts exhibitions tied to seasonal festivals, so beauty may spread into every corner of the estate. Every visitor will feel peace and delight, partaking together in a cultural feast of beauty.
