The name of the Hua Shan Cultural and Creative Park area originated from "Sanbanqiao Zhuang Dazhuwei" during the Qing Dynasty. In 1922, during the Japanese rule, the Japanese government abolished the old names of the townships in Taipei and renamed it "Kasama-cho.".

The name "Kasama" was derived from the name of the first Japanese governor of Taiwan, "Kasama Toshihisa." At that time, Kasama-cho included the Taipei City Hall (now the site of the Executive Yuan), the Kasama Freight Station, and the Taipei Brewery, which were government agencies. It was an area planned and developed by the Japanese government during the colonial period in Taipei. In 1940, due to the reconstruction of the Taipei Railway Station, a freight station was added in Kasama-cho, connected to the railway branch line of the Taipei Brewery. Later, during the period of the Republic of China government, "Kasama" was renamed "Hua Shan," and this name has been used until today.

It is one of the cultural heritage sites in Taipei City, Taiwan. After 1999, it has become a venue for cultural activities such as art exhibitions and music performances for the arts community, non-profit organizations, and individuals. In addition, the park has many restaurants, shops, and galleries. The park has hosted many cultural and artistic performances, and the renovated old buildings and installation art within the park have attracted many people to visit and take photos.
