When the Ta Ma Ferry arrives at Fuao Harbor, Matsu, the four striking red Chinese characters, "Zhen Ge Dai Dan (Couch the spear for the dawn)" immediately come into view. Soaring majestically on Fuching Ridge, South竿, it has now become one of the most iconic landmarks at the gateway to Matsu, equally renowned as the "Wan Wang Zai Ju (Never forget Ju)" inscription on the Ta Wu Mountain of Kinmen. Below the "Zhen Ge Dai Dan" inscribed rock lies the site of the late President Chiang Kai-shek's memorial park. The white staircase winding across the massive rock resembles a coiling white dragon. This Fu Mountain Wall of Inscription, located at the "Zhen Ge Dai Dan Memorial Park" on the southwest hill of Fuao Village, is a rectangular structure with two underground floors and five floors above ground. The "Zhen Ge Dai Dan" character carving, penned by the late President Chiang Kai-shek in July 1958 during his inspection of Matsu's coastal defenses, was meant to rally local troops and residents in maintaining their resolve for national restoration. Initially, erecting this enormous calligraphy on the towering archway proved painstaking - the characters had to be projected upward at night from the base of the mountain before construction could commence. Initially serving as a museum showcasing the living conditions of Matsu's military and civilian communities, the Zhen Ge Dai Dan Memorial Park was repurposed as an arts and culture exhibition space after a period of disuse under the planning of local Matsu artist Tsao Keh-chih. The park features an observation deck for visitors to ascend and enjoy panoramic views of Fuao Harbor, where sky and sea merge in a spectacular spectacle.
