Hsieh Ho Food Company was founded in 1976. Its proprietor, Mr. Wang Tun-fa, first apprenticed at Matsu’s most celebrated bakery—“Wan Feng Yu” (originating from Mawei, Fujian, mainland China)—and rose to become its master pastry instructor. Later, inspired to carry forward Matsu’s traditional craft, he established Hsieh Ho Food Company in Tangchi, Peikan.
For nearly four decades since its founding, Hsieh Ho has conscientiously preserved such Matsu classics as Matsu crisps, hibiscus crisps, shredded-turnip pastries, golden sweet-potato dumplings, and ceremonial wedding cakes, all beloved by local residents. In recent years, responding to shifting consumer habits and market trends, the company has introduced refined Western pastry techniques, blending the qualities of Western confections with traditional delicacies. By employing modern equipment and expanding its scope of business, Hsieh Ho is bringing the time-honored flavors of Matsu to an ever-wider audience.
