BES coffeeBES coffee sits on the triangle corner of Zhongyi and Changrong Streets in Chiayi City, open only three days a week. Formerly the industrial-style café “BLUES,” it has recently rebranded and shifted to a Japanese-inspired aesthetic. Interestingly, the stationery shop next door renovated along with it; the two businesses are inseparable good neighbors. To stand out in Chiayi’s crowded café scene, BES Coffee developed an exclusive line of tea-coffee and creative tea drinks—such as the “Lychee Latte,” which pairs imported fruit tea with light-roast coffee, and the popular brown-sugar wheat-porridge series, where hand-stirred, caramel-scented brown sugar meets nostalgic handmade wheat porridge, creating a layered texture that blends old and new. The owner couple are avid fans of Japanese culture and always serve bonito “cat rice” and creatively flavored Japanese grilled onigiri. They especially welcome guests to drop in, share, and discuss movies and music, periodically launching “movie-collaboration onigiri” and “discount with movie-ticket stub” campaigns to support Chiayi’s film scene.
