Guandu's original name was Gann Dou Men. Backed by Guanyin Mountain and Datun Mountain, and facing the Tanshui River, it was a strategically vital harbor. Early immigrants moved into northern Taiwan via Guandu Wharf for settlement and reclamation, making Guandu one of the earliest developed areas. However, later, due to siltation in the estuaries of the two rivers (Keelung River and Tanshui River), water transportation gradually declined.
Guandu Wharf is located near Guandu Nature Park and Guandu Temple. On holidays and nights, visitors often stop by the surrounding area of Guandu Wharf for strolls and rest. Many cycling enthusiasts also arrive from Bali via Guandu Bridge or from Tamsui. The scenery along the way is picturesque, making it an excellent spot for sightseeing.
