Guan Du Nature Park is located at the confluence of the Danshui River and the Keelung River. Since ancient times, it has been an important habitat for migratory birds. After more than a decade of efforts by conservationists, Guan Du Nature Park was established in 1996 (the 85th year of the Republic of China). Starting from December 1, 1991 (the 90th year of the Republic of China), the park has been operated and managed by the "Taipei City Wild Bird Society," a non-profit organization, on behalf of the Taipei City Government.
The main purpose of Guan Du Nature Park is to protect the wetland environment of Guan Du, restore the landscape of Guan Du wetlands, bring back the original inhabitants of Guan Du wetlands, and educate the public on the understanding of Guan Du wetlands. To help the public better understand wetlands, the park regularly holds various environmental education activities and exhibitions, such as theme exhibitions, weekend lectures, parent-child DIY classrooms, and camps. It also assists schools in conducting diverse environmental education programs, such as on-site interpretation and outdoor classes. In addition to maintaining the natural environment of the wetlands, it also provides citizens and tourists with a great place to experience nature and have leisure time on weekends.
