苗栗縣泰安鄉3鄰長橋25之1號
In Zhongxing Village, Tai'an Township, there are small villages such as Daban, Chuhuo, and Sima Xian. Among them, Chuhuo and Sima Xian villages have natural underground gas. The villagers use this year-round and free energy source to connect gas to their homes or workshops for cooking, drying clothes, cooking meals, bathing, and boiling water, etc. Due to the long pipeline connection, Sima Xian village has fewer households using it, while Chuhuo village has more than five households connected to the pipeline due to its convenient connection. Chuhuo village is also named after the long-standing flames that emerge from the ground. To promote tribal tourism, the county government and indigenous council members competed with the central government for funds to transform the past simple stone-heaped Chuhuo Square and improve the surrounding environment. The Chuhuo Square in Tai'an Township, Miaoli County, features six fire basins placed in a staggered manner, incorporating the Tayal tribe's totemic design and filled with indigenous charm. The six fire basins in the square "emit fire" endlessly "all year round," making it the first square in Miaoli County to emit fire. Every May and June, many tourists come to admire the fireflies at "Chuhuo." In the future, it will also be used in conjunction with local churches to hold religious ceremonies and tribal festivals.
